About Ketamine

What is ketamine?

Ketamine, used primarily for sedation and anesthesia for decades, has been found to have profound anti-depressant effects, as well as anti-anxiety and analgesic effects. The effects are much quicker than traditional anti-depressants. Ketamine is FDA approved for anesthesia, but is also used as an off-label treatment for depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and chronic pain.  It is also used off-label for end-of-life anxiety, depression, and pain.  At Ketamend, intramuscular ketamine (a shot, similar to a flu shot) is administered in a monitored environment.

When given appropriately, intramuscular ketamine is safe and life-changing for many. The effects are often felt within days to weeks.  It has been found to decrease thoughts of suicide and improve depression symptoms with a success rate of around 70%.
